Use Your Will

Use Your Will

After meditation, we took a fresh look at what it means to use our will, using a chapter from Just One Thing, by Rick Hansen writes:

...will...is a context of commitment, as for a mother devoted to the care of her family. Will is giving yourself over to your highest purposes, which lift you and carry you along. This kind of will feels like being pulled by inspiration rather than pushed by stubbornness.

Hansen suggests we draw inspiration from four qualities of a dedicated person that were identified by the Buddha, roughly: whole-hearted, firm, thorough, and mindful. Each of these exist in us and can provide a source of energy to carry us along the path.
